Contents of Serum Ceruloplasmin in Elementary School Children and 29-29 Age Group of Healthy Koreans

Abstract
In an attempt to determine the serum ceruloplasmin levels in elementary school children and the 20¡29 age group of healthy Koreans, the concentration of ceruloplasmin was determined by the clorimetric enzymtic method of Ravin in 55 children (34 males and 31 females) and 80 adults (43 males and 37 females). The level was assayed on the basis of the oxidase activity of serum toward p-phenylenediamine as the substrate.
The mean value for serum ceruloplasmin in the children and adults groups were 29.2¡¾5.7 and 30.4¡¾5.2 (Mean¡¾SD)§·/100§¢, respectively. In the children, the level in males were 29.2¡¾5.5§·/100§¢ and 28.9¡¾6.2§·/100§¢ in females. Similary, the concentration in male and female adult groups were 30.8¡¾4.6 and 30.0¡¾5.2§·/100§¢, respectively. It is likely that no significant difference in the concentration of serum ceruloplasmin among the variou age groups of individuals examined were found.
